MD Lore
When Moravia separated from Bohemia in 1990 after protests, MD was created and became the national carrier of Moravia. Nowadays, the country is doing well with its railways slowly modernising its fleet, routes, and more.
The country suffered bombarding by Bohemia in 1995, as the Bohemian president was still mad that the two separated. The target was Kyjov, the main city of Moravia. The part that suffered the most was Kyjov západ, which was in the worst state possible. The repairs were carried out on a tight budget as the bombing crippled Moravia economically and forced Kyjov západ to cease existence later on. The citizens were relocated to new living blocks and the station Kyjov západ was torn down. Today, the citizens rely on the Kyjov station, which is near many industries. The industries helped Moravia grow economically.
Zastávka u Zababova
This station is located near Zababov, serving a village and the border crossing to Slovakia. It is served by low and higher category trains, with freight NEx trains from Metrans stopping here so the Slovaks can take the NEx trains with a different loco on their part of the route.
Zababov
Zababov has been vital to its community in the village, helping them to get to cities like Mohelnice or Kyjov for their jobs and studies. The army used to load its vehicles onto the railway here, which no longer happens as the base was moved to a different city. In Zababov, a few businesses use the railway to transport goods.
Bohutice
Bohutice is a mid-sized town and a cultural waypoint on the route, featuring an open-air theatre and a now-demolished historic building. This stop has been reconstructed to the newest stop standards and has regular service. The stop used to be bigger with three rails, which are now torn out. This station, now a stop, was important for the nearby brick factory, which went into bankruptcy in the mid-80s and stopped its operations, stopping the need for three tracks. They were torn out and the station was left to rot until 2005, when it was reconstructed and the station building was torn down.
Kobylí
This small village is known for its historical castle ruin located near the stop and visible from the train. The castle was historically known for being the summer spot for the king and his family of Great Moravia. As of now, Kobylí has a few residents living in it, with more slowly moving in. This stop has only passenger services.
Bylnice
Bylnice is a station that has had rail service the longest, with a local brewery using the railway to transport its drinks and import ingredients. Bylnice used to have a route going to Litovel chorelice, which MD stopped serving as it became less and less economically sustainable. Bylnice includes a depot with a fuel station for the trains.
Újezdec
Újezdec is the most recently reconstructed station, having been turned into a stop and moved in favour of optimising the route and getting higher speeds. The old station building was demolished. Újezdec is used by older people to change for a bus and to go to the nearby spa resort.
Mohelnice
Mohelnice is a station located between Újezdec and Kyjov with a side branch to the Metrans container terminal. Mohelnice itself has a few small businesses and a high school focused on logistics. This station has been modernised and fitted with an underpass. The main reason for it being a station still is because of the terminal. In front of the station building you can find an MD employee laying on the ground after attempting to fix an electrical issue.
Kyjov
Kyjov is a very industrial-focused city with ODS building one of its facilities there. The city has built the Kyjov Tower, which has many offices for city workers and other companies that rent it. Be aware that if you leave something unattended for an extended period of time without a lock, it will be taken by the Kyjov residents, who make about 60% of the population in Kyjov. This city also has a nice beach, which was used by the army at one point to train. The station itself has a smaller depot, four platforms, and a nice station building with an archive. From Kyjov, the Doubrava route branches off near the depot. Most trains terminate and start in Kyjov.
Kyjov - Doubrava route
In the late 1990s, the route became unoperational because of floods. The worst damage was in Hrádek na Moravě. After the floods, the national carrier and infrastructure owner decided to close the line. In the early 2000s, MD showed no interest in operating trains to Doubrava, although seasonal trains to Děhylov were run for a short time. Moravský Děhylov and Hrádek na Moravě still showed interest in reviving the line.
- 2007: a new company was founded by the name Správa Moravských Tratí (SMT), with the aim of restoring old lines abandoned by previous operators and making remote places connected again.
- 2008: SMT received support from the mentioned villages to buy the line to Doubrava, which happened a year later when SMT took over Kyjov (mimo) - Doubrava. The line was in unusable condition because Děhylov - Doubrava was almost non-existent.
- The next year, SMT started investing in the line with some funding from the EU. The plan was to rebuild Dobravá - Děhylov first. The same year, SMT showed interest, along with Děhylov, in launching operations on Kyjov - Děhylov, but no operator was interested. Soon this issue disappeared, as in 2012 MŽ (Moravská Železniční) started operating trains on Kyjov - Děhylov in close partnership with SMT and nearby villages.
- In late 2012, the Děhylov - Doubrava project was finished and entered testing, which continued into early 2013. Operations were launched in 2013 for summer operations.
- After a few years, MD bought the route and started servicing it themselves, as the government pressured SMT into stopping operations, which led to MOŽ pulling out of passenger rail and abandoning its 628.2 DMUs.
thats all folks.
